I’m walking out to the Fusion this morning to get ready to go to the shop where my 944 is at, and I see this on my moms Explorer!!
(Look in the lower passenger side bumper area....)
Apparently my dad saw it days ago and made no mention until I saw it now, no one knows when this happened.
The mother is blaming it on someone possibly backing into her, I'm inclined to agree, what do you lot think? Is it worth repairing, especially because it's a lease?

Our new Odyssey has been hit THREE times in parking lots in 6 months. Only one left a note...$1300 damage for something just like that, but across two metal panels ($$$) instead of the bumper.
I say repair it. The hit on the lease will probably cost more than the repair, but I’m no lease expert. I’ve just heard lessors can steal your children and repo your home for a cigarette burn or door ding.

Repair it closer to the end of the lease. They’ll charge you a shitload for it otherwise.
Source - my Dad had to pay over $1000 when my sister returned her Forester due to scratches like that on both bumper covers.

Meh. I may consider it shortly before the lease is up but considering how awful people are about other people’s cars it’ll likely happen again or something similar. Fix it all in the end.

Yup, I agree. At the end of the lease is best. Because if you get it fixed someone will inevitably fuck it up again.

I’d just buff out what buffed out and end it there.

Can’t tell...is that an actual hole? If it’s a dent, you should be fine for lease return, if it’s a hole you should probably get it repaired before returning. http://credit.ford.com/doc/wear_use_e…

Honestly, if the inspection is going by the credit card rule anything larger than that can be deemed damage and she can be penalized. This definitely is way smaller, and will be even smaller once you buff out some of that red paint from the car that hit her.
Also in regards to leases, it is expected that the bumpers are going to have the most nicks, chips, scratches so they really don’t go to hard about it. It’s the scratches in weird places like the hood that they pay attention to.

Yep, a clay bar will remove that excess paint easily. Follow up with some polish and wax and it’ll be fine.

Yup. My mom got rear ended at a red light by a girl on her phone. Nothing too serious but it messed up the bumper and the hatch. Not even a full 2 days after she got it back from the body shop a guy on his phone rear ended her at a light very close to the previous accident. She just said screw it, if I get it fixed now it'll happen again. The second was more of a bump and only scuffed it a little.

It's a pretty decent indentation from the look and feel of it.

I would look for a body shop that specializes in plastic bumper repairs rather than a full-on “we’ll fix anything” type body shop. Might be a couple hundred bucks but nothing to worry about when it’s time to turn the car in.

It’s the same ingot silver metallic they’ve been using for years.
